Prospective Organizers are invited to submit proposals for Special Sessions at MINES 2009. Special sessions supplement the regular program of MINES 2009. Each special session should provide an overview of the state of the art and highlight important research directions in a relevant field of MINES 2009. The special session topics should focus on specific areas rather than being defined too broadly.

Special sessions will use the same paper submission portal as the regular program. Each special session will be composed of 5 or 6 papers. At least one author for each accepted paper must register for the conference and present the paper. If the number of papers submitted to or accepted by a Special Session is not sufficient, the Special Session will be cancelled and the papers will be transferred to the regular sessions. Special session proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness of the topic and relevance to MINES 2009, as well as the qualifications of the organizers. Please note that all papers in the proposed session will be reviewed by the session organizer(s) and session committee members.
